Where am I now? (A little check-in with myself)
Being an expat becomes a way of life. But, all the same, it can affect your work, relationships, family, health, friendships, finances — and even how much space you have for yourself and the things you enjoy. More, or differently, than they might have if you had stayed in your home country.
This little exercise helps you organise your thoughts about what’s going on for you.
No matter where you live, what you do or who you are — even if you aren’t an expat yourself.
Take a moment to check in with yourself
Look at to the wheel: either you have it with you on paper, or you find it below or on the side of this text. Have a look at the different areas.
Before you start scoring anything, simply notice them.
Now, rate each area
On a scale from 1–10, how satisfied are you with each area right now?
1 = not at all satisfied
10 = exactly where I’d like to be
Then mark your score on the wheel and join the dots.
There are no right or wrong answers. This is simply about where you are today.
Now look at your wheel
What do you notice?
You don’t have to fix everything. If you could make just one area a little better, which one would you choose?
And what would “a little better” look like?

Did something catch your attention?
Sometimes seeing the different areas of your life together makes something clearer — or raises a question you hadn’t quite put into words.
